I
f you’re anything like me
at the moment, there’s a
mounting sense of cautious
excitement building over this
year’s Scale ModelWorld, with
the chance to rediscover the
magic of seeing exhibits from
all over the country converging
on the Telford International
Centre for 13-14 November.
While trader numbers
(particularly those from overseas)
might be understandably
lower, there’s also a palpable
anticipation as to what new items
will be announced by those who
are attending. With several big
names absent, there’s plenty
of opportunity for a smaller
manufacturer to bask in the
limelight and I for one can’t wait
to see what’s on the stalls. The
Airfix Model World
stand will be
there as usual (I believe we’re
still in our traditional spot but
await confirmation on the final
plan) and I look forward to seeing
as many of you that can make it
over the weekend.
Turning attention to this
month’s offerings and the
headline is the return of Airfix’s
splendid 1/72 MiG-17, which
features as a camouflaged East
German Air Force LIM-5. We
also showcase another new
tooling from ICM; this time it’s a
gorgeous 1/32 Boeing Stearman.
Sci-fi modellers can enjoy
ModelCollect’s strange-looking
1/35 KaiserKäfer walking tank –
similarly, there’s an eye-catching
Tamiya 1/24 Volt Racing Ford
Mustang GT for auto aficionados.
