Crafting the Hegemon's Scepter
Frater Mea Fides in Sapientia
I am going to try and present some craft projects that should be within the capabilities of most folk with minimal tools. Our second project will be a Hegemon's scepter. Here I will be using readily available wood craft items.I often use Catan's or Michael Bros. and, occasionally, Jo-Anne Fabrics.(For those without local craftstores, or for rarer parts, I often use... http://www.craftparts.com )
The parts used will be about $5 worth of parts: (Price may vary widely)
(1) 1” dowel, appx, 24” long
(1) 1-1/2” Wooden ball knob (flat on bottom with screw hole)
(2) Lozenge shaped pieces
(2) 1” inside, smooth napkin rings or ring toss rings (narrower)
(1) 1-3/4” Country Candle Cup
(2) 3-1/2 long deck screwsa scrap piece of 1x2Glue, wood putty, paints as needed.
Mark and cut off bottom of lozenges
Trim off top of candle cup (this to match Hierophant design.)
Candle holder lozenges and scrap 1x2 to make tip
Fill in edges with wood putty
Drill through the candle cup. Cut pieces to make 2 crosses from “popsicle”/craft sticks
Glue crosses to miter and glue this to the candle holder ball.
Add cut screw (as we did with Hierophant's scepter.
Drill a hole into each end of the Dowel rod.
Put a screw into one end, cut off head and thread crown portion on, using glue to fasten.
Mount remaining rings, equally spaced, and screw on end ball, using cut screw as above.
