legendary, diamond-winged YF-23 ‘Black
Widow II’ ghter lost a near-decade-long
race to be the chosen one.

Acting group editor, John Sootheran,
explained: ‘It’s going to be busy, but we

engaging ways.’
Assistant editor and aviation-media
veteran, Rob Coppinger, added: ‘We

Features writer, Khalem Chapman,
may only be 22, but his military aviation
knowledge is simply mind-blowing.
‘I feel like I should tell him to get out
more,’ says Sootheran. ‘But it’s really
handy having people on the team who
know their Echoes from their
Ekranoplans and their AoA from
their AoB.’
Dave Allport (DJ) is another team
member with an encyclopedic
knowledge of all things aero, but also
an over-developed interest in attrition.
He ran Key Publishing’s photo archive
for several years, so can tell a Raptor
from a Lightning at 50 paces, without
his glasses on.
Jake Hamilton is the newest member
of the crew. Jake has travelled the world
making great magazines, and, after
living in Hong Kong, has a deep interest
in Chinese aviation.
