READY FOR TAKE OFF!

Hello, dear readers,
what a day! It was just before Easter, the sun was shining
from a cloudless sky at 26 degrees and we were finally back
at the airfield! We, that was the Westerholts and me. It was a
strange feeling to have a transmitter in our hands again after
a year and to taxi to the start, while the air finally smelled of
jet fuel again. After a first cautious flight, however, the old con-
fidence quickly returned and we were able to enjoy the day to
the full. Then came the Easter days and everything was over
again. Even today, as I write these lines, the sun is shining, but
unfortunately it is still not flying weather and the corona sta-
tistics continue to rise. Nevertheless, a growing optimism is
spreading through the scene that things will get going again
in the second half of the year. Take a look at the diary in the
magazine and you will know what I mean, and I am sure that
there will be many more events in the next issue.
A closer look at the diary reveals that we have moved
the Rookie Meeting to June and that there will be the "Jets
& Props", formerly JetPower Event, on 10. September. This
means that the JetPower fair, with which an absolutely new
fair concept was brought to life, is finally history as a pure jet
fair. Too bad, but that's life! Shortly before the English edition
went to press, it was announced that the JetPower Event for
this year had been cancelled. So it remains exciting what
awaits us next year!
This edition of JetPower also shows that there has been
more building than flying in recent months. The F-84 Thun-

derstreak represents the trend towards wooden construction just as the Me 262
shows the trend towards ever more elaborate foam models. Of course, the jets
in classic construction are not neglected either. Furthermore, Hermann Wieking
continues his series on the technology of large-scale aviation, which is so po-
pular with readers, with a description of lift aids, and in the second part of the
Harrier story Alois Wesseler describes his arduous journey to find a usable en-
gine for his project.
I wish my readers a lot of reading pleasure with the new JetPower and share the
hope of all jet pilots that we will soon be able to meet again where jets are flown.
