READY FOR TAKE OFF!
Editorial
Hello, dear readers,
I am pleased to present you a packed new issue of Jet-
Power. The focus in this issue is not so much on the kit jet
models, but rather on the self-construction and the wooden
model. We report exclusively on the maiden flight of Christo-
pher Ferkl's Airbus A380. This huge airliner will certainly be
one of the big attractions at the model flying events that will
hopefully take place again next year. Norbert Rauch, the
father of the German airline scene, has also successfully
flown his A340 and reports in detail about the construction
and testing. I would be delighted if these reports were to in-
spire one or two readers to build an airliner next winter, be-
cause the scene needs new blood.
Hermann Wieking had a completely different project in mind
with the construction of the BoultonPaul. This rustic model,
built entirely of wood, turned out to be more complex than
initially thought. Last but not least, the space glider Buran by
Michael Speier should also be mentioned when it comes to
self-construction. Powered by a turbine, it will be launched next
year on the back of the mighty Antonov and will continue to fly
independently after being released. A unique show, for which
we unfortunately have to wait a little longer. But JetPower will
be back for the next test flights.
Unfortunately, Corona continues to have us under its control
and with the numbers now rising again, the last hopes of mod-
el flying events in autumn have disappeared.
So that we might be able to fill the 2021 event calendar at the
turn of the year, we have to stick to the distance and mask rules,
because a vaccine is not yet in sight either.

What remains are the meetings under corona rules at the airfield, the trade
press, the internet and the construction of new models over the winter, even if
it is getting tight in the workshop because the "natural shrinkage" has been
missing this year. In the end, we should all be glad that we have our model flying,
because we will certainly not be bored.
In this sense, stay healthy, so that hopefully we can meet again next year where
jets are flown.
