The formation of the Shyish Nadir heralds the
doom of mortalkind. Cities burn, armies are
destroyed and the living huddle in terror before
the relentless march of ivory legions. Now is the
hour for Death to rise and claim its due. The
arrogant kingdoms of man, duardin and aelf
shall all submit to the will of Nagashizzar or
be obliterated down to the last soul, for none
can stand before the might of the Ossiarch
Bonereapers – the elite champions of Nagash
– and the military genius of their liege-lord,
Orpheon Katakros, Mortarch of the Necropolis.
It will begin in the Eightpoints. For too long
has this island realm been allowed to fester
and spoil under the gaze of the Dark Gods. For
too long has the tyrant Archaon the Everchosen
claimed dominion over that which by rights
must belong to the God of Undeath. When
the Eightpoints is taken, the war between
life and death shall be decided once and for
all. The legions of Nagash will pour through
the great arcways that connect this island
continent to the farthest corners of the Mortal
Realms. Nowhere will be beyond the Great
Necromancer’s reach.
But first, the Varanspire must fall. The Citadel
of Ruin, greatest stronghold of Chaos in all
the realms, must be conquered by the armies
of Death, its towers brought crumbling down
and its defenders put to the sword. Such a task
would be beyond the mightiest mortal armies,
for the Eightpoints is home to heathen hordes
and twisted monstrosities beyond counting, and
the very land itself feasts upon intruders.
Yet for Katakros the Undefeated, there is no foe
that cannot be routed, no challenge that cannot
be overcome by the iron fist of his Ossiarchs.
Chaos and Death shall meet in apocalyptic
battle to decide the fate of the Eightpoints.

assigning warlords to rule with an iron fist over its nightmarish wilds and its vital, realm-spanning arcways. Now
that supremacy will be challenged like never before, for an ancient and deathless power is rising in the realms…
The tome you hold in your hands
tells the next exciting chapter in
the grand story of Warhammer Age
of Sigmar. It is a dark time for the
Mortal Realms. Nagash, God of
Undeath, has unleashed the horror of
the Shyish necroquake upon reality.
Everywhere, darkness falls, and the
Great Necromancer’s armies march
forth in untold numbers to enslave
and destroy the living.
Greatest of all his weapons are the
Ossiarch Bonereapers, relentless
soul-constructs fashioned using
the darkest necromantic magic and
commanded by the unmatched
military genius known as Katakros
the Undefeated. Already they
have conquered great swathes of
territory, driving their enemies
before them in panic and terror,
demanding that defeated mortals
provide them with a tithe of fresh
bone with which they will construct
more of their kind. Yet Nagash has
even greater ambitions in mind. He
seeks to conquer the Eightpoints,
stronghold of Chaos in the Mortal
Realms and the throne of Archaon
the Everchosen, his hated foe. Should
he succeed in this ambitious plan,
Nagash would gain control of the
arcways – immense arcane gates
that connect the Eightpoints to
each of the realms. Then, his war
of obliteration could truly begin
in earnest.
Victory will not come easily. The
Eightpoints are home to vast
warhordes sworn to the Dark Gods,
their ranks consisting of the most
vicious and bloodthirsty killers to
be found anywhere in the realms.
Furthermore, Archaon can call upon
daemonic legions from the roiling
hellscape of the Realm of Chaos
as well as fanatical murder-cults,
mutated, flesh-eating monsters and
even the predatory malevolence
of the land itself. The Three-Eyed
King is as formidable a conqueror
as Mortarch Katakros, responsible
for the obliteration of countless
kingdoms and the enslavement of
millions of defeated foes. Armed
with the Slayer of Kings and riding
his daemon mount, Dorghar,
Archaon presents an all but
insurmountable threat to any foe –
including the mighty Katakros and
his conquering armies.
So begins the Siege of the
Eightpoints, a cataclysmic conflict
between Chaos and Death that will
drown the Eightpoints in blood and
fire. In a series of horrific battles,
the fate of this vast continent will
be decided – and perhaps that of the
Mortal Realms themselves.
