1. What Is Brand Registry?  
Brand Registry is a service offered by Amazon to protect your intellectual 
property (brand name) and provide you with several tools to help grow your 
brand and business.  
 
Get your brand registered through Amazon if you can, because
this gives you 
stronger and more automated protection, as well as a faster response from 
Amazon when a violation is reported​

2. Why You Should Have Brand Registry  
Brand registry is a huge help to your business because:  
 
Amazon uses automated methods to detect brand name violations, so 
you may never even know that they were attempted—this makes 
running your business much easier.  
If you find a violation, Brand Registry provides you with an easy tool to 
identify and report them.  
Being registered increases the value of your brand.   
You get access to really cool marketing tools. 
3. The Benefits of Brand Registry  
In addition to providing brand protection, Amazon has released several 
marketing tools that are only available to those businesses that are brand 
registered:  
 
Enhanced brand content  
Headline search ads  
Social media promotions

Many of these tools were previously only available to vendors, but are now 
accessible to any seller who opts for Brand Registry. We will explain how to use 
them later in this same lesson.

4. What You Need to Apply 
Make sure that you have the following, in order to apply for Brand Registry:  
 
1.
Brand name that has a live, registered trademark  
Number. For USPTO marks, the Mark Drawing Type must match the 
brand name, and must be equal to one of the following:  
a. Typeset word(s)/letter(s)/number(s)  
b. And illustration drawing which includes 
word(s)/letter(s)/number(s) 
c. Standard character mark  
d. Words, letters, or numbers in a stylized form  
e.
When you are ready to trademark your brand,
contact whichever 
service you are using, and ask them about these different 
options for getting a trademark​
.  
2. Government Registered Principal Trademark Registration or Serial 
3. Images of the brand logo  
4. Images of products and packaging that carry the trademarked brand 
name—if the product is not branded, the packaging must be branded 
5. A list of categories (e.g., “Apparel,” “Sporting Goods,” etc.) in which the 
brand should be listed  
6. A list of countries where the brand’s products are manufactured and 
distributed

Take a look at this list of countries that Amazon is currently accepting 
trademarks from, and make sure that your country is listed:

It typically takes from 6 months to a year for trademarks to be approved. Head 
to the ASM Private Resource Vault to find a list of recommended trademark 
application services that can walk you through the steps.

5. Cool Brand Registry Tools   
Below is a description of each of the helpful tools that come along with Brand 
Registry, along with an explanation of how to use them.  
 
Enhanced Brand Content (EBC) 
 
EBC gives brand owners the ability to upgrade their listings by including a 
unique brand story, enhanced images, and text placements.  
 
Adding EBC to your product detail page can result in higher conversion rates, 
increased traffic, and increased sales, when used effectively.
